Portraits of my Tumor

Dirty Little Pillows

It’s hard to separate the humor from the pain. –Jeffery McDaniel

Our bodies make us worry. They are always leaking, breaking, and sitting themselves just outside the realm of what we consider socially acceptable. It is this fear of the body that is a catalyst for my work. I elicit humor and exaggeration through gross fascination with the feminine dis-eased body. By beginning with the personal I am given access to the viewers comfort level, as objects of comfort become objects of distress.
