Shelter is the third and final performance in the Needs series and presents Longva and Carpenter each performing related acts. One woman sits at a square table, piled high with tiny pea-sized stones. She considers, counts, and drops each one to the ground. A second woman, with an identical table and chair strapped to her back, attempts to drag a huge bag of stones across the length of RoCo's main gallery. Hunger was performed at Big Orbit, Buffalo, NY, Thirst was performed at Foster Lake in Alfred, NY both in May | |

Christina Laurel |
October 7 - November 13 Opening Reception: October 7, 6-10pm |
Ethereality "Ethereality" captures the tenuous nature of time, movement and beauty on 6x3-foot paper shades and in suspended columnar cocoons. Rochester-based artist Christina Laurel uses mostly black-and-white imagery of kimono, ginkgo and butterflies that are drawn, painted, and collaged onto the ethereal medium of paper. Laurel's columns use woven and folded paper to create the ethereal effect of shadows. |
