Last year over 5,000 people attended an exciting art exhibition of more than 3,500 original artworks made and donated by celebrities, international and local artists, designers, college students, youths, and YOU, all measuring 6"x6". Our goal of 2,008 artworks was met and surpassed as artworks arrived from 22 states and 5 countries as far away as Indonesia! Over 1,000 6”x6” were sold during the run of 6x6x2008. So many visitors expressed interest in participating, 6x6 will be held for a second and final year. DON’T MISS THE VISUAL ART EVENT OF SUMMER 2009!
“This is a terrific idea,” said Chiarenza, a 72-year-old Brighton resident. “Usually, I complain about events that
depend on artists donating their art. But this is fun — an affordable way to support the cause.”
“...a brilliant fund raiser carried out as a multi-leveled game that serves not only to raise money for the art
center, but also to involve the public in creating, appreciating, and buying artwork.”
–Rebecca Rafferty, CITY Newspaper
“...with a good eye, you could nab a masterpiece.” –Stuart Low, Democrat and Chronicle
6x6x2009 is an exhibition with a twist. It is comprised of thousands of original works of art, all measuring 6 inches square. This exhibition features artworks by celebrities, international, national and local artists, designers, college students and youths. All works are signed by the artists on the back, but are exhibited anonymously. Each artwork will be available for sale to the public for only $20 each. Only at the time of purchase will the artist’s name be revealed to the buyer. All proceeds benefit Rochester Contemporary Art Center. 6x6x2009 is playful. The exhibition sets the 6x6 inch format as the only real parameter for the works and features artists and art-enthusiasts from all corners of the globe, including Indonesia, Spain, England, Scotland, Canada, Los Angeles, Seattle, Montana, Iowa, Florida, New York City and beyond!

Can you guess which artworks were made by: (A)Mayor Robert Duffy, (B)Grant Holcomb (director of Memorial Art Gallery), (C)Jerry Uelsmann (famous photographer), (D)your grandmother? The exhibition also challenges you to support the arts by buying what you like, regardless of the signature! On June 6th become a part of the largest art exhibition in Rochester history!
