7/1/10 Rochester’s largest art exhibition sets attendance record and approaches fund raising goal. Rochester Contemporary Art Center expects well over 6,000 visitors to its international exhibition, breaking last year’s attendance. Over 1,400 artworks have sold to visitors and collectors from across the country. The gallery hopes to reach its fund raising goal of 2,000 sales before July 11, 2010. Roughly 3,600 artworks remain for sale at Rochester Contemporary Art Center (RoCo) and in the 6x6 Online Galleries (www.roco6x6.org).
6x6x2010 is an exhibition of 5,000 original artworks made and donated by celebrities, international and local artists, designers, college students, youths, and YOU. 2,000 artists from 22 countries and 43 states contributed artworks to the exhibition, All artworks measure 6”x6” and are for sale anonymously for $20 each to benefit Rochester Contemporary Art Center.
6x6x2010 is an exhibition with a twist. It is comprised of thousands of original works of art, all measuring 6 inches square. This exhibition features artworks by a diverse group of people from various backgrounds and ages. Notable participants include Turner Prize nominee, Dexter Dalwood (UK), Nathan Lyons, Carl Chiarenza and many more. All works are signed by the artists on the back, but are exhibited anonymously. Each artwork is available for sale to the public for only $20 each. Only at the time of purchase will the artist’s name be revealed to the buyer. All proceeds benefit Rochester Contemporary Art Center. 6x6x2010 is playful. The exhibition sets the 6x6 inch format as the only real parameter for the works, and features artists from all corners of the globe.
