Opening Reception: April 3, 6-10pm
Artists' Talk: April 4, 1pm (part of the new coffee hour series of talks)
Rochester Contemporary Art Center is pleased to present in between, an exhibition of new artworks by Brooklyn-based artists Malin Abrahamsson and Ricky Sears. The paintings and sculptures in this exhibition were influenced by the artists' first encounters with Rochester NY's landscape and relate to construction, demolition and the passage of time within urban spaces. in between navigates emptiness and identifies potential in the often ignored corners of our city. A common theme running through this 'outsider's portrait' is the 6"x6" posts that encircle unused and "abandoned" parcels of land throughout Rochester. Abrahamsson and Sears were impacted by the large number of these lots in Rochester, and through the works in this exhibition they continue to explore and envisage new landscapes.
in between runs in conjunction with the PLANT reading room and sunday coffee hour workshops. The PLANT reading room, a new space dedicated to participatory art practice and a healthier Rochester, NY.
