Member Spotlight John Tracey and Martha Bush

Q: Why did you become a RoCo member?
A: John is an artist and I’m an art lover and we both feel that RoCo is the one organization in Rochester that has most ignited the visual arts community over the last decade. From creating an exciting environment to experience new art, building collaboration across a wide community of artists and taking risks by showing art we wouldn’t see anywhere else in Rochester, RoCo is an organization we are proud of and should be supporting as much as we can!

Q: Tell us an interesting experience you’ve had at RoCo?
A: I just love the energy the 6x6 show brings to the whole city. I love how it turns new people into artists and gets them talking about the work they made and the work they purchased. Every year I have interesting conversations about art with people both inside RoCo during the 6x6, and outside with people who never would have otherwise felt comfortable talking about art.

Q: If you could have one artist create your portrait, who would it be?
A: Edith Lunt Small would do an awesome wood carving/painted portrait. Wouldn’t that be fun to have?

Q: Where is your favorite place in the East End to have dinner after a RoCo opening?
A: We venture a bit out of the East End to Han Noodle on Monroe. Our home away from home!

Q: If you could own any piece of art, which would it be?
A: John would like a piece by Yves Tanquy and I’d like one by Kandinsky. Could you arrange that??
