Kurt Feuerherm (1925 – 2019)

The Rochester Art Community lost a major figure, a renowned artist and influential educator. Kurt Feuerherm died early Wednesday morning, November 6th, surrounded by family. His life was filled with loving relationships with people from everywhere he lived and visited. He has been described as having led an “amazing and gifted life.” He left a legacy of beauty and joy to everyone he knew.

Kurt’s artwork ranged from paintings and drawings to ceramics and wood assemblages. He had a profound sense of nature, whether land formations or animals, birds and insects. Kurt was a major part of Rochester Contemporary Art Center where he and his wife Judy have shown their work in several exhibitions at RoCo including Makers & Mentors 2013 where his artwork was exhibited alongside former students Peter Monacelli (Rochester, NY), Patricia Dreher (CA), and Kristine Bouyoucos (Rochester, NY).

Kurt's obituary was published in Rochester Democrat and Chronicle from Nov. 8 to Nov. 10, 2019 and online here.
