About the Artist
Judith Gohringer is a Rochester-based abstract painter. A graduate of Brockport College, Judy also studied Art & Design at RIT, weaving at the Rhode Island School of Design, and received a degree in Art Education from Nazareth College.
Judy usually paints in acrylics on paper or board, and is drawn to contemporary artists of the mid-20th century. According to the artist, “I often work in a non-objective, abstract style; exploring texture, shape and line. Color is a prominent characteristic of my work.” Her work is often inspired by summers spent canoe camping in Canada.
Judy has exhibited at galleries throughout the Rochester region, including Main Street Arts Center (Clifton Springs), The Mill Art Center and Gallery (Honeoye Falls), Axom Gallery (Rochester), Schweinfurth Art Center (Auburn), and many more.
Judy is a member of the Arena Art Group and Rochester Contemporary Art Center, and has exhibited with RoCo in several Members Exhibitions, The Arena Art Group – 70 Years (2021), and Artists for Ukraine (2022). She shares a studio space in the Anderson Arts Building with her husband, sculptor Peter H. Gohringer.

RoCo’s Davis-Havens Sales Gallery offers artworks of all styles at a range of prices, all to benefit Rochester Contemporary Art Center. Hundreds of artworks, which have been donated by collectors (and some artists), are rotated on view regularly. Artworks have been given expressly for this ongoing fundraiser so prices are often significantly discounted. All proceeds from the sale of these artworks support the long term future of RoCo.
Our Future Fund Featured Find is a new initiative highlighting a different artwork and artist each month.
