About the Artist

Bruno Chalifour

Bruno Chalifour was born in Limoges, France. In 1996, he received a degree from the University of Limoges, followed by a Master of Fine Arts from SUNY Buffalo in 2001. Chalifour has worked as a fine-art photographer and freelance photojournalist since 1981. Over the years, he has also taught at University of Limoges, SUNY Buffalo, University of Rochester, and Empire State College.

Chalifour has exhibited extensively in both solo and group exhibitions, at galleries such as Image City Photography Gallery, Spectrum Gallery, Castellani Art Museum, Pavillion du Verdurier (Limoges, FR), and Couzeix Cultural Center (Couzeix, FR). He has curatorial experience from dozens of exhibitions in both the US and France.

Chalifour has participated in many Members Exhibitions at RoCo, and was highlighted in Makers & Mentors 2014 alongside Carl Chiarenza, Lisa Bradley, and David W. Haas.

Chalifour says of his medium, “Photography has taught me not just to look at people and the world, but to watch them, observe them, analyze them to try and understand them, respond to them and express this relationship in visual terms.”

RoCo’s Davis-Havens Sales Gallery offers artworks of all styles at a range of prices, all to benefit Rochester Contemporary Art Center. Hundreds of artworks, which have been donated by collectors (and some artists), are rotated on view regularly. Artworks have been given expressly for this ongoing fundraiser so prices are often significantly discounted. All proceeds from the sale of these artworks support the long term future of RoCo.
Our Future Fund Featured Find is a new initiative highlighting a different artwork and artist each month.
