About the Artist

Sheridan Vincent

Sheridan Vincent’s career has always revolved around photography. In high school, he earned a job as a delivery boy at a photofinishing plant in Fargo, North Dakota before working several other positions there throughout college. He received his BS and MS in Chemistry at Moorhead State University and the University of Minnesota respectively, before starting his dream job of working for the Eastman Kodak Company in 1974.

Vincent worked for Eastman Kodak for 31 years, retiring in 2005 as the Technical Director-PhotoProcessing Chemicals. Shortly thereafter in early 2006, Vincent joined the then-new Image City Photography Gallery as a partner. He continues to regularly exhibit his photographs there.

Vincent specializes in photographs of Rochester and the surrounding area. About his practice and the impact working for Kodak has had on it, Vincent says, “During my years at Kodak, I observed and participated in activities that yielded very significant improvements in the products that greatly improved the image quality of photographs. With that strong technical background I am now working to further develop my photography passion to produce fine art photographs. It is a very exciting time participating in the evolution where digital capture and digital printing produces such new capabilities–notably panoramic photographs. I produce my prints with digital capture, custom image enhancement with Photoshop, and digital printing onto long-lasting print media.”

The photo featured here, Canandaigua Dawn, was selected for an International Juried Photography Competition in August of 2011. He also showed his photographs of Rochester at Galleria delle Arti located in the Italian American Community Center the same year. Vincent is also a longtime member of RoCo and has participated in several Members Exhibitions.

RoCo’s Davis-Havens Sales Gallery offers artworks of all styles at a range of prices, all to benefit Rochester Contemporary Art Center. Hundreds of artworks, which have been donated by collectors (and some artists), are rotated on view regularly. Artworks have been given expressly for this ongoing fundraiser so prices are often significantly discounted. All proceeds from the sale of these artworks support the long term future of RoCo.
Our Future Fund Featured Find is a new initiative highlighting a different artwork and artist each month.
