About the Artist
Tarrant Clements is a potter, painter, sculptor, and printmaker based in Rochester, New York. She received a MFA in Ceramic Sculpture from RIT in 1968. Clements has exhibited nationally and locally, with her works being featured in Rochester’s Memorial Art Gallery, RIT University Shop One, and the Elmhurst Art Museum in Elmhurst, IL. She has worked as a full time artist since 1977, allowing her to hone her skills across many different mediums. Clements cites her artistic nature as being a product of the curiosity her mother, artist Eleanor King, gave to her. Her work is also influenced by her mentors, friends, and late husband Jacque Clements, who she met during her time at RIT. She and her husband would teach each other their artistic techniques, and learn new mediums together.
Clements has participated frequently in the Annual Members Exhibition and 6×6 at RoCo. In 2015, she was awarded the Memorial Art Gallery Award for her artwork at our 25th Annual Members Exhibition! She has been an invaluable mentor to many artists locally.
RoCo’s Davis-Havens Sales Gallery offers artworks of all styles at a range of prices, all to benefit Rochester Contemporary Art Center. Hundreds of artworks, which have been donated by collectors (and some artists), are rotated on view regularly. Artworks have been given expressly for this ongoing fundraiser so prices are often significantly discounted. All proceeds from the sale of these artworks support the long term future of RoCo.
Our Future Fund Featured Find is a new initiative highlighting a different artwork and artist each month.
